Edition of 250, eight-colour inkjet on cotton-fibre archival paper, hand-signed by artist, lower right and numbered lower left. The work demonstrates Hockney’s continued engagement with technological innovation, extending a lifelong interest in printmaking and image-making tools into the digital age. Within the My Window project, everyday views and seasonal details become vehicles for reflecting on perception, time, and the quiet beauty found in ordinary moments. Untitled No, 535, forms part of the celebrated My Window series, a body of digital drawings created on the artist’s iPhone that records the subtle rhythms of everyday life and the changing seasons. In this composition, a vase of luminous peonies rests on a windowsill in the foreground, their vibrant forms rendered through swift, expressive strokes that echo the freshness and vitality of the blooming flowers. Beyond the still life, the window frames the outside world, linking the intimate interior space with the natural cycle unfolding outdoors. The drawing reflects Hockney’s fascination with observing the gradual transition of spring into summer. Through the immediacy of the digital medium, he captures a fleeting moment in time, when the flowers reach full bloom, transforming a simple domestic scene into a meditation on renewal and transience. The quick, fluid marks made possible by the iPhone’s interface allow the artist to work with spontaneity, translating the energy of observation directly into colour and form.
