In the words of the artist’s wife, Victoria Mary Clarke, “Shane being Irish has always been on the side of the oppressed and the colonised and he is a devoted fan of Clint Eastwood films, in particular ‘A Fistful of Dollars’ and ‘The Magnificent Seven’. This is a portrait of a Mexican bandit seeing off a yankee!".
