Keith Haring
Untitled, 1989Silkscreen57 x 76 cm.
22 1/2 x 29 7/8 in.Edition 7Untitled is a silkscreen print created by Keith Haring in 1989, part of a limited edition of just seven, each with unique dimensions. This print holds particular significance due to its rarity and its creation in the final year of Haring’s life. The print features one of Haring’s most iconic motifs: the dog. Often a symbol of oppression and violence, or companionship, depending on the context, the dog in this scene is humorously subverted. It stands on a stage, being worshipped by humans, flipping the typical power dynamic. This playful reversal serves as an allegory of power and subjugation, where animals take on a dominant role over humans. Untitled (Dog on Podium) highlights Haring’s unique visual style that would see the artist become a mainstay of private collectors, auction houses, galleries and museums worldwide.
