Keith Haring
The Blueprint Drawings, 1990Silkscreen108 x 134.5 cm.
42 1/2 x 53 in.Edition of 33‘The Blueprint Drawings’ is from a significant collection of seventeen works, created over a few weeks in 1980 and revisited in Haring’s final year, 1990. This print is notable for its innovative use of medium, a first for Haring, and for its reimagining of familiar motifs. The scenes in this series are among the most visually striking and intense in Haring’s oeuvre. The collection exudes a violent and chaotic tone. Figures are depicted torturing eachother. This gruesome portrayal of death reflects Haring’s preoccupation with mortality, as he grappled with AIDS and witnessed its devastating impact on his peers. The Blueprint Drawings highlight Haring’s unique visual style that would see the artist become a mainstay of private collectors, auction houses, galleries and museums worldwide.
