Introduction
"Using the body as the primary medium for perceiving and presenting meaning through direct personal experience, Lynn Lu's performances engage with all that is here-and-now..."

Andipa Contemporary is pleased to announce a performance by internationally renowned artist Lynn Lu. Following her recent performances in the Turbine Hall, Tate Modern and Turbine Hall, Giswil, Switzerland, this specially commissioned piece, is conceived in response to Andipa Contemporary's upcoming exhibition: The Secret Language of Flowers.

Using the body as the primary medium for perceiving and presenting meaning through direct personal experience, Lynn Lu's performances engage with all that is here-and-now. They respond to the physical space and underlying themes of the exhibition and create resonating relationships between herself, the audience, and between members of the audience themselves.
Born in Singapore in 1974 Lynn Lu received a BFA from Carnegie Mellon University with a major in Sculpture and a minor in Graphic Design in 1999. In 1998, she studied with Christian Boltanski at the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, and at the Ecole Marchutz in Aix-en-Provence. She earned her MFA in New Genres at the San Francisco Art Institute in 2002, and completed her PhD (ABD) in Tokyo in 2008. In 2010, she was awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy by the University of Newcastle in Australia.
Among other honours, Lynn Lu was awarded the Singapore National Arts Council International Development Grants in 2011 (UK), 2010 (USA, UK), in 2009 (New Zealand, Germany, Australia, China), in 2008 (Denmark, Belarus, Switzerland, Indonesia) and the National Arts Council Emerging Artist Grant, and the Lee Foundation Grant in 2003.
