In 1962, Andy Warhol was eager to revolutionise the process of replicating his iconic images. To achieve this, he adopted the commercial production technique known as screen printing. This innovative approach allowed him to harness the power of mass production while exploring the use of photographs from newspapers and magazines, often featuring serious or emotionally charged scenes. With screen printing, Warhol could reproduce these photographs multiple times. Although this process removed the artist's direct hand in creating the artwork, Warhol embraced imperfections by allowing his screens to be both over and under inked. This deliberate choice created unique effects that disrupted the visual impact of the images, adding layers of complexity to his work.

Over one summer, a fortunate 300,000 visitors were transported into a world of vibrant, unconventional, and sometimes provocative art. Then, like a traveling circus, Luna Luna disappeared without a trace.
